Strong foundations come first. Most beginner mistakes trace back to fundamentals, so we emphasize clear technique, simple calculation habits, and confident decision‑making before advancing to complex topics.

I’m Nihanth Tatikonda, founder and president of Evergreen Chess Club. I’ve worked with younger kids and have hosted many nationally‑rated chess tournaments. My approach is simple: make concepts clear, build good habits early, and keep it enjoyable so improvement sticks.
I hold a ~1600 USCF & NWSRS rating, have been playing chess for 7 years, am a top‑10 11th grader in Washington, the team captain of the BHS varsity team, and have earned multiple top‑3 finishes at state‑level tournaments.
Whether you’re just learning the moves or sharpening your tactics, I’d love to help you take the next step.
